What you'll do:
As Finance Manager based in Watford with hybrid working options available, you will play an integral part in driving financial excellence across multiple regions. Your day-to-day activities will involve managing intricate financial processes such as overseeing divisional P&L accounts, preparing month-end journals for various revenue streams and costs, conducting thorough reconciliations of balance sheets including lease receivables via advanced systems like Tango. You will also be responsible for reviewing numerous contracts each month for both technical compliance and commercial viability. By partnering with local finance teams worldwide as well as sales and operations departments, you will help interpret variances against forecasts while delivering meaningful insights that support informed decision-making. Your ability to create robust lease schedules and introduce inventory KPIs will further enhance process efficiency. Additionally, you’ll play a crucial role during audits by facilitating smooth transitions between US GAAP and UK GAAP standards. Success in this position requires not only technical proficiency but also strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration across diverse teams.
- Oversee the full profit and loss account as well as the balance sheet for the division, ensuring all revenue recognition, cost of goods sold, and overheads are accurately accounted for under US GAAP.
- Collaborate closely with regional finance teams and operational departments to analyse monthly variances against forecast and plan, providing clear explanations and actionable insights.
- Review up to 30 new contracts each month from both US and European markets for technical accounting accuracy as well as commercial implications.
- Prepare and post comprehensive month-end journals covering revenue streams, COGS, freight costs, repairs and maintenance accruals, commissions, legal fees, and marketing expenses.
- Conduct detailed monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, investigating discrepancies thoroughly and reconciling lease receivables using the Tango lease accounting system for group reporting purposes.
- Fully reconcile stock and work-in-progress accounts every month by collaborating with global supply chain teams to introduce inventory KPIs and ensure efficient cash management practices are maintained.
- Create and maintain enhanced lease schedules capable of tracking high volumes of complex leases with precision and reliability.
- Support external audit processes by responding to audit queries promptly while performing necessary adjustments to transition financial statements from US GAAP to UK GAAP requirements.
- Work alongside sales, operations, supply chain, and finance colleagues globally to identify pressure points within the business and provide clear guidance on financial implications of strategic decisions.
- Deliver ad hoc financial analysis as required for new territories or emerging business needs, ensuring timely delivery of accurate information.
