Finance Manager

Reporting directly to the VP Finance, you’ll work closely with another Finance Manager to oversee operations while providing leadership to a team of Finance Executives. This role offers variety and exposure across multiple areas of the business — from coaching team members to strengthening cross-departmental collaboration and ensuring smooth delivery of core finance processes.

Key Responsibilities

Team Coaching & Development:

  • Support team development by coaching Finance Executives to make confident decisions, solve problems proactively, and take ownership of their work with increasing independence.
  • Design and deliver group training sessions focused on technical skills and professional development.
  • Create individual development plans with clear milestones for growth.
  • Provide structured feedback and establish progression pathways to help team members evolve from task-oriented contributors to outcome-driven professionals.
  • Develop strong knowledge of team workflows (e.g., accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, billing, credit control) to offer effective guidance.

Cross-Department Collaboration & Relationship Building:

  • Position the finance function as a trusted partner by fostering strong relationships across departments.
  • Lead initiatives that promote financial awareness within the organisation (e.g., workshops on credit control or contract terms).
  • Maintain an approachable presence while encouraging proactive relationship-building across teams.
  • Facilitate regular touchpoints with other departments to ensure alignment and smooth collaboration.
  • Partner with teams on resolving finance-related queries, including complex credit checks, VAT matters (UK/international), and ad-hoc reporting requests.

People Management & Team Culture:

  • Oversee all operational processes within the finance function while managing performance and supporting team wellbeing.
  • Manage payment run processes through detailed review of schedules prepared by Finance Executives.
  • Refine credit control strategies: ensure proactive client management, coach team members through challenging conversations, and improve escalation approaches.
  • Foster a culture of recognition, accountability, and support within the team.
  • Adapt management styles to suit diverse working preferences across team members.
  • Provide oversight on finance authorisations/approvals while supporting decision-making alongside the VP Finance.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at improving collaboration within teams, reducing bottlenecks, and enhancing adherence to processes.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Part-qualified ACCA/CIMA (or qualified by experience) with ambition for further progression.
  • Strong Excel skills are essential (experience handling large datasets; familiarity with advanced formulas is required; Power Query/Power BI knowledge is a plus).
  • High energy levels with a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.
  • Strong work ethic with ownership over tasks; able to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional numerical and analytical abilities paired with attention to detail.
  • Adaptable mindset capable of navigating change and new challenges effectively.
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills.
  • A self-starter committed to continuous learning and personal development; demonstrates a ‘growth mindset.’
