Finance Manager

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Manager to join their team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage the company's finance function, providing guidance and support to the Board on the current financial position of the company, and contributing to business decisions. The successful candidate will have the chance to work in a dynamic environment, where they can utilise their skills and experience to make a significant impact. Location: Dorchester, Dorset Contract Length: 3-6 months Contract hours: Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week Salary: £50,000 - 60,000

Key Responsibilities of the Finance Manager

• Overall responsibility for managing the company’s finance function

• Prepare detailed monthly management accounts for Board

• Monitor cash flow position and update short-term and long-term forecasts

• Review VAT transactions, including postponed VAT, and file quarterly VAT Returns

• Process monthly payroll for all staff

• Maintain company’s development cost portfolio and review for impairment

• Financial modelling for forecasting, variance analysis and budgeting

• Identify ways of improving the efficiency of the finance function

Key Essentials of the Finance Manager

• Qualified Accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least 10 years' experience in finance

• Strong understanding of statutory accounts and VAT

• Understanding accounting, treatment of work in progress and long-term contracts essential

• Experienced with Sage 50 Accounts and Sage Payroll

• Strong Excel skills required

• Professional and confident communicator

• Able to work to deadlines.

• Accurate with strong attention to detail
