Our client, SynOx Therapeutics, a late-stage clinical bio-pharmaceutical company, is seeking a Group Financial Controller to lead their close-knit team in setting up a professional and compliant finance function.
This role will report and work very closely with the SVP, Finance and Operation and is heavily supported by the Finance and IT Systems Manager. This role offers the opportunity to build your own financial admin infrastructure and take ownership over the finance and supporting business operations. The ideal candidate will have both a strategic and operational focus, expanding into the wider business.
This role is Remote, with occasional meetings in the Oxford area.
What you'll do:
As Group Financial Controller, you will be fundamental in leading the team to set up a professional and compliant finance function. You will take over day-to-day responsibility for managing all finance and admin processes. This broad role will cover a range of processes including complex global consolidated accounting, IT governance, risk management and general business operations. You will also play a pivotal role in building a roadmap for commercialisation. This is an exciting opportunity for you to shape the department at both strategic and operational levels.
* Full ownership of the financial processes and controls
* Development of comprehensive documentation of policies, processes and procedures for the finance and admin functions
* Building close working relationships across to wider team
* Review of management accounts and investor reporting figures
* Lead relationship with statutory auditors and other third party professional advisers
* Full ownership of all global tax activities
* Responsibility over global expansion and compliance
* Cap table management, including complex loan and preference share transactions
* Leading role in the development of an Information Security Management System to an ISO27001 standard
What you bring:
The ideal Group Financial Controller candidate will bring proven experience in life sciences, ideally in a global biotech that has transitioned from pre-revenue through to commercialisation. Your strong technical skills as an accountant at a group consolidation level will be key in this role. You are highly organised, proactive, efficient, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Your strong verbal and written communication skills will enable you to build relationships with all team members and communicate complex financial strategy succinctly.

* 'Self-starter' - highly organised, proactive and efficient
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Experience in life sciences, ideally in a global biotech that have transitioned from pre-revenue through to commercialisation
* Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision

What sets this company apart:
SynOx Therapeutics is a late-stage clinical biopharmaceutical company that has recently completed a significant fundraise to continue with the clinical development of a groundbreaking drug. They are entering an expected period of growth over the next few years as they work together readying the business and team for bringing their potentially best-in-class treatment option to the market. This is an exciting time to join the company and play a pivotal role in its growth and success.
For this role, you must have Biotech/Pharma experience, with a company going through (or gone through) clinical trials and ideally someone that has experience in a biotech that has commercially launched a drug product onto the market. This Group Financial Controller will be part of a small finance team and therefore will need to single-handedly take on finance strategy, the statutory accounts and global tax compliance and be able to build close working relationships across the wider team.
