My client, a leading Not-For-Profit organisation are looking for an Assistant Accountant who is looking to learn and develop within their career to join their organisation.

Role Type: Permanent

Location: Coventry

Working: Hybrid

Salary: £27,000 to £32,000 per annum depending on experience (this may be negotiable for the perfect candidate)

Industry Experience Required: Charity / Not-For-Profit / Education / Housing / Public Sector / NHS / Public Service / Regulatory

Qualifications: Part Qualified – ACCA, CIPFA or CIMA plus study support and package

Duties of the Assistant Accountant:

We have an opportunity for someone to join the finance department, supporting the Assistant Financial Controller, and our busy team to maintain the Sales Ledger and month end financial journals.

In the role of Assistant Accountant you will have the opportunity to develop skills and bring innovative ideas on how processes can be improved. Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Maintain the Sales Ledger and credit control, including preparing the Monthly Debtors report and a Cash flow forecast
  • Carry out a range of Financial Accounting activities including month-end prepayments and accruals journals and petty cash accounting
  • Complete key administrative tasks including corporate credit cards and Insurance
  • Support the Finance team and organisation more broadly by identifying and implementing continual process improvement and through the provision of ad-hoc assistance as required

Requirements of the Assistant Accountant:

  • Proactive detail orientated individual with experience of maintaining the Sales Ledger in a fast paced environment
  • Experience of using finance software to raise invoices and credit notes, allocate cash and post Journals as well as using great communication skills to perform customer investigations
  • Core understanding of financial accounting, including double entry book-keeping and Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Intermediate excel skills are equally as important to your ability to maintain administrative systems with a methodical approach, and working to meet deadlines
  • Part-Qualified ACCA or CIMA with the provision of study support
