Credit Controller Salary: £35,000–£40,000 Location: Great Barford, Bedfordshire

Robert Walters is partnering with an organisation who are looking to recruit a Credit Controller for their finance team based in Great Barford, Bedfordshire.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to play a key role in managing accounts receivable, reducing debtor days, and supporting the financial health of the business. You will work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely payments while maintaining strong professional relationships.

The organisation offers an excellent working environment with 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, study support, staff appreciation events, and an all-company bonus scheme, making this a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in credit control. This role will also suit someone who has supervisory experience.

Key responsibilities:

  • Process sales invoices and ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions
  • Issue monthly customer statements and monitor overdue accounts
  • Proactively chase outstanding debts via phone and email
  • Negotiate payment plans and follow up on agreed arrangements
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and account updates
  • Update credit limits, post and allocate receipts, and manage credit reports
  • Support legal action where required in consultation with relevant stakeholders

About you:

  • Proven experience in credit control or accounts receivable
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build customer relationships
  • Experience with Excel and Sage 50 (or similar systems)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative finance team
  • Supervisory experience is highly desirable
