Our client is seeking a Senior Credit Controller to join their dynamic team in Birmingham. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Credit Controller looking to step up or an established Senior Credit Controller seeking a new challenge. The primary objective of the role is to ensure that tenant debts are recovered in an effective and timely manner, in line with client requirements. You will also have the chance to mentor and coach other members of the credit control team, ensuring high performance and technical skills are maintained.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Credit Controller, your role will be pivotal in ensuring that tenant debts are recovered efficiently. You will work closely with various stakeholders including surveyors, clients, and other team members to devise the best strategies for debt recovery. Your leadership skills will shine as you mentor other Credit Controllers, fostering a supportive environment that encourages growth. Your commitment to continuous improvement will be evident as you develop, implement, and refine processes to meet service delivery standards. Your meticulous attention to detail will aid in maintaining comprehensive records of debtor payment performance.

  • Ensure demands are raised with purchase order numbers if appropriate, and arrears are collected on behalf of Client(s) in accordance with their debt recovery policies.
  • Support the debt recovery strategy and operate within contractual compliance.
  • Work with surveyors, clients and other team members on the most appropriate actions to recover debts.
  • Maintain complete and up-to-date records of actions to settle arrears and monitor collection performance.
  • Assist in continuously improving processes for arrears collection.
  • Act as a mentor and role model to Credit Controllers.
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve processes and procedures to ensure service delivery standards are met.
  • Work with internal audit and compliance to ensure all compliance and control requirements are met.
  • Liaise with team members, surveyors, client accountants and Clients to resolve debt collection issues in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate provision of ad hoc and monthly credit control reports and aged debtor analyses.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Senior Credit Controller position is highly numerate, accurate, target-driven, and solutions-oriented. You bring substantial experience from working within a credit control or rent collection team in a property management or similar environment. Your excellent verbal and written communication skills will be crucial in liaising with various stakeholders. You have a strong understanding of debt collection procedures and data protection issues, and you are committed to providing excellent customer service and meeting deadlines. Your proficiency in Microsoft Office products will aid in your day-to-day tasks, and your ability to build strong relationships with client stakeholders will be key to your success.
