An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Credit Control Supervisor to join a well established, successful and growing organisation, based in beautiful modern offices. Hybrid working is available, up to two days per week working from home with other great benefits.
The Credit Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Credit Control team, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts, maintain strong relationships with clients and minimising bad debts. The Credit Control Supervisor role involves managing a team of Credit Controller and Billing Clerks whilst managing the credit control process from customer credit assessments to billing queries and debt recovery whilst ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years experience in Credit Control with a minimum of two years experience within a supervisory position.
Key Responsibilities
Team Management
- Supervising the Credit Control team on a daily basis whilst being proactive in training and developing the team, recruiting new team members as required and ongoing evaluation of team members to identify skills gaps and development areas.
- Monitor daily activities of the team to ensure timely and accurate collection of outstanding debts.
- Set goals and objectives for the team and conduct regular reviews to ensure objectives are met.
- Conduct regular team meetings to ensure team efficiency and performance are at the levels expected.
Credit Control
- Oversee the evaluation of new customer credit applications and ensure appropriate credit limits are set in line with company policy.
- Monitor the credit exposure of existing customers and ensure timely reviews of credit limits are undertaken.
- Manage the collection of overdue accounts, implementing effective strategies to reduce debtor days and outstanding balances.
- Take ownership of escalated credit issues whilst building relationships and negotiating with customers to ensure positive and good working relationships are maintained.
Reporting & Analysis
- Create and prepare regular reports on accounts receivable, aged debtors and key performance indicators (KPI’s) for the Senior Leadership Team.
- Analyse the performance and effectiveness of the credit control process, identifying trends, risks and areas for improvement.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly closing activities relating to accounts receivable.
Customer Relationship Management
- Ensure strong working relationships are built and maintained with key customers to facilitate a culture of timely payments and amicable dispute resolution.
- Liaise and collaborate with other departments within the business including Sales, Customer Service and the Finance Team to actively resolve any customer billing issues.
- Facilitate excellent communication with customers by showcasing a professional attitude and engaging in effective and timely correspondence and communication at all times.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure all Credit Control policies and procedures are adhered to and updated as and when required.
- Maintain accurate customer records, including payment terms, credit limits and contact details.
- Ensure consistent compliance with relevant regulations, including GDPR and financial reporting requirements.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance the efficiency of the credit control function.
- Implement new technologies and tools to automate or streamline credit control processes.
Debt Recovery
- Work closely with external debt collection agencies and legal teams to oversee and manage difficult collections and pursue legal action where necessary.
- Minimise exposure to bad debt by constantly reviewing and improving risk assessment processes.
