We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Finance Officer specialising in Accounts Payable to join a Financial Control Department of a large bank. As a key member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Financial Controller in delivering reporting and operational requirements, with a primary focus on accounts payable processing. This is a 6 month temporary assignment, starting ASAP and offering a hybrid work week.
Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable: Oversee and manage all aspects of accounts payable processing. Obtain authorisation of invoices through the control card process, enter payments into the banking platform, enter invoices into the general ledger, and collate and check employee expense claims. Liaise with suppliers and the business as necessary. Administer and maintain corporate card expense reporting
- Reporting: Prepare daily bank reconciliations, run master reports, and provide monthly finance reports to the Compliance department. Assist with month-end, half-year, and year-end reporting. Conduct ad hoc data analysis as required
- Pegasus (General Ledger): Maintain the ledger, including account set up and amendments. Prepare and input GL, AP, and AR journals daily. Generate daily reports.
- Treasury Operations: Assist with the preparation of term deposit and counterparty deal confirmations Communicate deal confirmations with the counterparty. Process and monitor inter-account FX fund transfers
- Maintain ongoing cash flow projections and monitoring
- Audit: Support interim and year-end audits. Prepare working files, assist with the year-end audit, and liaise with auditors. Aid in the roll forward of statutory accounts
- FCA Returns: Assist with the preparation of FCA returns. Support aspects of monthly CASS reporting as required
- VAT Returns: Prepare VAT returns and liaise with SMTB London Branch for VAT return submission.
- Accounts Receivable: Assist in entering client and intergroup fee invoices onto the general ledger. Monitor and follow up on invoice delays during the quarterly invoicing cycle. Enter fee receipts onto the general ledger and follow up with the IM Department for any payment delays. Prepare and issue bi-annual and ad hoc intergroup invoices
- Project Work: Contribute to the re-establishment of the Financial Control function, including updating and developing operational policies and procedures, establishing internal control processes, and developing budget management and monthly monitoring report framework
- Expense Claims: Administer and prepare expense claims for other staff members, including business expenses claims
- Additional Duties: Carry out any other duties as required by the business and senior management, which may include an expansion of areas of responsibility over time
Qualifications and Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in a sophisticated/established accounting function, with a focus on accounts payable processing
- Knowledge of and/or experience in financial services is desirable but not required.
- Strong team player and collaborative mindset
