A leading organisation is seeking a Credit Controller to join their Finance team in St Albans. Credit Controller

Salary - £30k per annum (permanent)

Working pattern - Hybrid

Location - St Albans

Job Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage the end-to-end credit control process by engaging with customers to resolve overdue balances and encourage timely payments.
  • Handle a large portfolio of small accounts with care and attention, ensuring swift action on outstanding invoices to maintain healthy cash flow.
  • Communicate confidently with customers over the phone to address payment issues in a polite and considerate manner, fostering positive relationships.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales colleagues to unblock queries and gather essential information needed for progressing payments efficiently.
  • Assist with raising invoices, supporting month-end activities, and contributing to other Accounts Receivable tasks as required by the Finance team.
  • Take on ad-hoc duties such as supporting Purchase Ledger processes when needed, demonstrating flexibility and willingness to help across the team.
  • Contribute positively to general Finance operations by sharing knowledge and supporting communal goals within the department.

Experience Required

  • Experience working within a Finance Team or exposure to finance operations is highly desirable for understanding credit control processes.
  • Resilience is essential; you remain focused on achieving results even when faced with setbacks or challenging situations.
  • Confidence communicating over the phone enables you to handle difficult conversations politely while encouraging timely payments.
