Salary - £45k-£48k (permanent)

Location - Peterborough

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to support key business decisions and provide actionable recommendations to stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Partner with various departments to deliver clear, concise financial reporting that enhances understanding and drives informed decision-making throughout the business.
  • Oversee the monthly close process, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and leading through to timely balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare, review, and manage budgets and forecasts for different entities within the group, ensuring alignment with overall strategic objectives.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) regularly, identifying trends and implementing opportunities for operational or financial improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal controls, maintaining high levels of accuracy and integrity in all financial processes.
  • Support audit processes by preparing necessary documentation and responding promptly to queries from auditors or regulatory bodies.
  • Assist in developing new procedures or refining existing ones to enhance efficiency within the finance function.
  • Provide training or guidance to junior team members as required, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the department.

Experience Required

  • Demonstrated experience in management accounting roles within medium to large organisations, ideally involving multi-entity structures or group reporting responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in conducting detailed financial analysis and presenting findings in an accessible manner to both finance professionals and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Strong background in managing monthly close processes including journal postings, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience preparing budgets and forecasts with proven ability to monitor variances and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Familiarity with tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and using data-driven insights to identify opportunities for process or cost improvements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to working across departments; able to build effective relationships at all levels of the organisation.
  • A high level of attention to detail combined with strong organisational skills; able to manage multiple priorities effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles (such as UK GAAP or IFRS) alongside practical experience using modern finance systems or ERP software packages.
  • A commitment to personal development with an openness to learning new skills or taking on additional responsibilities as required.
