Interim Financial Accountant

Role: Interim IFRS16 Accountant Sector: Local Government Duration: Support through 2025/26 accounts Day Rate Negotiable

Purpose of the Role

The organisation is seeking interim support to assist with IFRS16 accounting requirements. IFRS16 has already been implemented in the current year’s accounts, and additional expertise is required to support the preparation and delivery of the 2025/26 financial statements.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist support on IFRS16 accounting

• Assist with the preparation of accounts for 2025/26

• Review and support existing IFRS16 implementation work

• Support finance team with technical accounting queries related to leases

• Produce and maintain IFRS16 calculations and schedules

• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and local government requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience working with IFRS16

• Prior experience within local government (strongly preferred)

• Strong technical accounting background

• Advanced Excel skills (including complex spreadsheets and calculations)

• Ability to work independently and add value quickly in an interim capacity

Desirable

• Experience supporting year-end or statutory accounts in the public sector
