Lease Accountant
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lease Accountant to join an expanding Finance team based in West Yorkshire. This role offers the chance to be part of a supportive and inclusive team, focused on achieving objectives together. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to coordinate and manage the migration of the accounting standard change with regards to leases on behalf of multiple companies.
This is a new role within the organisation, offering the chance to lead the transition of operating leases being brought on balance sheet with the change to FRS 102 – lease accounting.

What you'll do:
As a Lease Accountant, your primary focus will be coordinating and managing the migration of the accounting standard change with regards to leases. You will be responsible for ensuring complete and accurate reporting of lease accounting information, designing and implementing sufficient controls and policies, taking ownership of the accounting policy, acting as the first point of contact for all lease queries, preparing company and group journals for lease accounting entries, reconciling lease data at company and group level, providing lease disclosure notes for year-end audit, responding to audit queries, owning leases accounting software data, ensuring its accuracy and relevance.
- Ensure complete and accurate reporting of lease accounting information
- Design and implement sufficient controls and policies to govern the accounting for leases in the group, ensuring group compliance with FRS 102
- Take ownership of the accounting policy, ensuring continuous improvement
- Act as the first point of contact for all lease queries
- Prepare company and group journals for lease accounting entries
- Reconcile the lease data at company and group level.
- Provision of the lease disclosure notes for year-end audit and responding to audit queries
- Own the leases accounting software data and ensure the accuracy and relevance of the live data
What you bring:
The ideal Lease Accountant will bring a wealth of experience in managing, analysing, interpreting large amounts of data, preparing reports for review by management. They will have proven experience in large volume reconciliations including resolution of variances. They will possess intermediate Excel skills including Pivot tables. A personable nature with the ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team is essential. An ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification and working knowledge of IFRS16 for a company with a large volume of assets is required.
