Management Accountant
Hybrid 1-2 days per week in the Chester office
up to £47,000
Reporting to the Assistant Financial Controller, the Management Accountant will be responsible for:
• Reconciling and analysing the transactional data in the ERP system (Microsoft Navision) to ensure that the figures included in the P&L and balance sheet are complete and accurate. This will involve working closely with the transactional finance team and with source systems. • Preparing (and reviewing where relevant) of all reporting issued to the business, ensuring that the reporting of results meets stakeholder needs. • Preparing and reviewing the management accounts, including full actual to budget and prior year variance analysis with comprehensive commentary on all material variances. • Developing and maintaining consistent accounting processes and controls, whilst continually looking for efficiencies and improvements. • Preparing and collating budget and forecasting information and ensuring appropriate challenges are given to the budget owners. • Performing (and reviewing as relevant) commission calculations based on the latest schemes, and responding to queries raised. • Undertaking business partnering-like activity through extending and developing reporting and KPIs for business activity through working with the wider business to understand requirements. • Ensuring that all compliance returns (e.g. VAT, P11D etc) and other submissions (e.g. bordereaux) are accurately completed and filled on time. • Acting as a key contact in the statutory audit process, working closely with the wider team as required. • Facilitating and dealing with ad hoc queries from the wider business in a timely manner. • Acting as a subject matter expert in the integration of new acquisitions into the wider division, providing support to new members of the team and helping extend divisional processes and policies as appropriate. This will also include involvement in the acquisition balance sheet process. • Providing coaching and development to direct reports, both in the allocation and review of day to day tasks, and wider development planning. • Assist the Financial Controller and CFO with other project work on an ad hoc basis.
Qualifications and experience
• Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or an individual in the latter stages of qualification with a significant level of experience. • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role. • Ability to liaise with people at all levels of seniority. • Ability to think strategically and balance competing priorities. • The ability to exercise strong judgement and initiative • Strong delegation skills. • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to engage non-Finance colleagues and drive change. • Strong teamwork skills.
