“With more than half of accountants looking to move jobs in the next year, we expect to see movement between commercial firms in the next few months.” Andrew Setchell, Director, Accountancy Recruitment
Whilst only half of accountants received a pay rise in 2011, our latest compensation survey revealed that the majority of accountants are expecting pay rises within the next year. Most are also thinking about moving jobs.
In fact , 73% are thinking about moving on, showing greater confidence in the jobs market. The majority of accountants cite career progression as the main motivator to finding a new job, although salary is still a key issue.
With only 51% of accountants receiving a pay rise this year – a surprisingly low figure– we anticipate that we will start to see salary inflation as accountants move roles. Our survey showed that of those who have recently found a new job half secured pay rises of more than ten per cent. Bonuses
More than a third of accountants have not received a bonus within the last year, but of those that have, almost a quarter received a payout of more than 20% of salary. This suggests that businesses are focusing on rewarding their top performers as they bid to retain their best people.
