My FTSE 100 client is looking for a treasury accountant to join their busy finance team. You will be based in Central London
Typical responsibilities of this Treasury Accountant role include:
- Prepare monthly financial instrument valuations using the Treasury Management System. Complete hedge effectiveness testing and ensure documentation is kept up to date
- Prepare disclosures for the Group financial statements concerning financial instruments and hedge accounting, ensuring compliance with IAS32, IAS39 and IFRS7
- Provide IAS 39 fair value accounting information and advice to the Operating companies
- Review foreign exchange positions regularly, ensuring appropriate accounting treatments and hedging transactions are undertaken to minimise income statement volatility
- Prepare and review monthly accounting information for central Treasury and head office structure companies and analyse results against forecast and budget
- Upload primary financial statements to Group reporting system ensuring correct accounting treatment for all transactions
- Work with Treasury front office to devise assumptions and report budgets and forecasts
- Liaise with external advisors during the audit of Treasury entities
- Be the primary point of reference for the development and maintenance of the “back office” functionality of the Treasury system
- Manage Treasury back office payments systems and Treasury accounting system
- Development and support provided to the Treasury Payments Clerk on performing daily and weekly back office tasks (payment verifications, settlement and reconciliations)
- Prepare daily reconciliations to ensure all cash movements are correct and properly accounted for and to verify the value of all interest payments and bank charges levied on Treasury activity
- Ensure all external Treasury transactions are confirmed using automated confirmation system
- Back office support will be provided by the Treasury Payment Clerk, who would complete the majority of back office daily tasks and reconciliations
- Work closely with the Senior Treasury Accountant on reporting tasks and projects. During time in role this will involve exposure to and an increasing responsibility for Group reporting of Treasury entities and analysis of foreign exchange and Financial Instruments
Key Skills preferred:
- Graduate calibre, qualified or part-qualified accountant
- Previous experience working in a corporate Treasury environment and understanding of IFRS (particularly IAS 32, IAS 39 and IFRS 7) desirable
- Flexible approach to working hours and willingness to take on additional responsibility
- Numerate and computer literate (knowledge of Treasury and Accounting systems desirable)
