Manchester Airports Group (MAG) is the largest UK-owned airport operator, serving 24 million passengers and handling half a million tonnes of air freight every year, through its ownership and operation of Manchester, East Midlands, Bournemouth and Humberside airports. MAG also runs thriving businesses in car parking, airport security, fire fighting, engineering, advertising and motor transport.
Reporting to the Operational FD, this role will lead the analyst and accounting team that will support management reporting and decision-making within the commercial, operations and assets functions across MAG. The role will manage the transition from a divisional management accounting and analytical support model to a centralised model, will drive standardisation of processes and outputs and be responsible for introducing significant improvements in quality.
Key responsibilities include:
- managing, supporting and developing a team of 14 business partners and analysts (financial and non-financial) to develop a high performance delivery-focussed culture
- introducing standardised management accounting and reporting processes that follow best practice
- ensuring that monthly management accounts and explanations for variances to budget, forecast and prior year are delivered to the commercial, operations and property teams
- providing insightful analysis to the business finance teams to support short, medium and long-term strategy
- taking responsibility for introducing significant improvements in key decision and strategic support
- championing the use of BI and other IT systems within the immediate team and across the broader finance organisation to drive efficiencies
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA or overseas equivalent) who is able to demonstrate clear career progression to date. You will be able to work in a rapidly changing environment and also have the interpersonal skills to influence and build relationships with a diverse group of business professionals, both internally and externally. Top-tier academics are required, including a degree.
